What to do when you are nursing an injury????

Well since my surgery I have been coming up with things to do to stay active.... The other day using my crutches I timed how fast i could get from one end of the hallway to the other.... It took me 2 minutes and 35 seconds..... So my goal is to beat that time this coming week... The stares I get from the Marines in my barracks when they come out of there rooms, seeing me crutch down the hallway is priceless.... one person asked me why dont I just take it easy? Easy is what you take when your old and retired. If you have an injury what do you do to stay active? Post to comments...

  1. Injury: sprained ankle three weeks ago (fell off the pullup bar - ha!).

Take it easy?? I laughed when I read that! I heard the same thing...easy isn't in a CrossFitter's vocabulary.

I have a lot of stairs to navigate at home, and I would go up and down stairs for time. Getting up and down stairs with laundry was the equivalent of doing Cindy with a weight vest....

To keep busy during recovery, I've tortured myself everyday by going and watching WOD. I heard I looked pretty sad not being able to WOD :). I was asked, "If you can't workout, why go??" The answer is simple - not going at all would be worse! I used the time to watch some of the best coaches and learn from them, listen to the cues they give athletes, techniques to lift better, and the moto they provide. For the first time, I was able to slow down and just watch. What I've learned in the last three weeks has been invaluable and definitely has made me a better coach.

As far as WODs, they've been hit or miss. I worked on all bodyweight things: pullups, pushups, etc. I HATE all of those, and I'm excited to see that a making a concentrated effort on them the past few weeks, I've gotten better at each one!

It has not been easy, and it's only been three weeks. I am so fortunate to have a wonderful family and friends, and they have all made sure I was taken care of! T, I am grateful to be able to read your posts too because all have really encouraged me greatly along the way. THANK YOU! I wish you a very speedy recovery and look forward to hearing your progress!!!
